Nicholas Berardi Sr.’s passion for hairstyling began during his early apprenticeship and has remained the driving force behind his lifelong career. In 1971, he co-founded Richard Nicholas Hair Salon in Philadelphia, creating a space that stood apart from traditional barbershops and salons. Designed as a European-style cut and color boutique, the salon is known for delivering modern, urban hair designs for both men and women.

With a strong commitment to innovation and education, the salon also introduced the Open Chair Studio, a creative learning environment for beauty professionals. This platform allows stylists to grow their skills through classes led by both local and nationally recognized artists.

The training programs are designed to be interactive and practical, offering live demonstrations along with hands-on experience. Stylists gain expertise in precision cutting techniques including dry, wet, scissor, razor, and clipper methods. Training sessions involve working on real clients as well as mannequins, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience.
