Arsha Vidya Gurukulam

Arsha Vidya Gurukulam is a traditional center dedicated to preserving and teaching the timeless wisdom of India’s ancient sages. The term *Arsha* refers to the teachings that originate from the Rishis, *Vidya* means knowledge, and *Gurukulam* describes a residential learning environment where students live and study closely with a teacher. Together, the name reflects a sacred space where seekers gain authentic spiritual understanding rooted in tradition.

Founded in 1986 by Swami Dayananda Saraswati, the Gurukulam follows the classical gurukul model of education. It offers in-depth study of the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Brahmasutras, and other Vedic scriptures, making this profound knowledge accessible in English to students from around the world.

Beyond Advaita Vedanta, the institution also provides instruction in Sanskrit, Vedic chanting, astrology, Ayurveda, meditation, and Iyengar Yoga. Regular weekend classes and meditation sessions are open to all, allowing newcomers and long-term students alike to participate without formal enrollment.

The Gurukulam also contributes to spiritual education through its wide range of published works, including home study courses and programs designed for children. Its bookstore features thousands of titles covering Vedanta, Hindu philosophy, Sanskrit, yoga, and Indian heritage. Supported by generous donations and bookstore proceeds, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam continues to serve as a living bridge between ancient Vedic wisdom and modern spiritual seekers.
