Arsha Vidya Pitham

Founded in 1986 by **Swami Dayananda Saraswati**, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam is a traditional center for the study of Advaita Vedanta and classical Indian knowledge systems. Rooted in the ancient gurukulam model of India, it revives the timeless method of learning directly from a teacher in a disciplined and contemplative environment.

Situated on 14 serene acres in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, within the picturesque Pocono Mountains, the Gurukulam offers a peaceful setting ideal for reflection and scriptural study. The term “Arsha” signifies knowledge that comes from the Rishis, the enlightened sages of India, while “Vidya” means wisdom. True to its name, the Gurukulam is dedicated to preserving and transmitting the teachings of the great scriptures in an authentic and systematic manner.

Students from both India and the West gather here to study profound texts such as the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Brahmasutras in English. Through structured courses, residential programs, and retreats, seekers are guided step-by-step in understanding the vision of non-duality presented by Advaita Vedanta.

The campus is graced by a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Dakshinamurti, revered as the primordial teacher who imparts knowledge through silence.
