# Halloween Weekend Shootings Across the U.S. Leave at Least 13 Dead and 92 Injured

Multiple shootings across the United States during Halloween weekend killed at least 13 people and injured another 92, disrupting holiday celebrations, college gatherings and nightlife events, according to a preliminary tally by CNN. The incidents occurred across several states, including California, Alabama, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, Mississippi, Florida and Arkansas.

The preliminary figures, compiled partly using data from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive, may not capture every incident. The violence also comes less than three weeks after a shooting at an elementary school in Oregon killed three students and a teacher, renewing concerns about public safety and gun violence.

## Dallas shootings claim four lives

Dallas experienced one of the deadliest episodes of the weekend, with three separate shootings in the Deep Ellum entertainment district leaving four people dead and at least 15 injured. The gunfire began shortly after midnight on October 31, with incidents reported at three locations over approximately 75 minutes.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said investigators were examining whether the shootings were connected. Although police had increased their presence in the neighborhood ahead of Halloween celebrations, the additional deployment did not prevent the violence.

In Fairfield, California, a shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store on Friday evening killed 31-year-old Constance Hages, who was pregnant, and wounded six others. Police described the incident as targeted, while CNN reported that three of the injured victims were in critical condition.

Another fatal shooting occurred on October 30 at a Spirit Halloween store in Madison Heights, Michigan, where a 21-year-old man was killed.

## Violence near college events and public gatherings

Birmingham, Alabama, reported two shootings near Legion Field following the annual Magic City Classic football game between Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University. One person was killed and eight others were wounded.

Nearly 70,000 fans attended the rivalry game. Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said the shootings occurred outside the stadium after the event. Police took a 17-year-old into custody and recovered multiple weapons, according to officials cited by the Associated Press.

Delaware experienced two separate mass shootings on Halloween night. In Ellendale, nine people were shot at an outdoor party, and a 17-year-old girl later died from her injuries. In Newark, six people were wounded in a shooting near the University of Delaware.

In Bloomington, Illinois, a shooting near Illinois Wesleyan University killed a 19-year-old woman and injured seven others. One of the injured victims was reported to be in critical condition.

Other incidents occurred in Bloomington, Indiana, where seven people were injured; Fayetteville, Arkansas, where six people were shot; and Edinburg, Texas, where seven people were wounded at a birthday party.

In Jackson, Mississippi, a nightclub shooting killed two people and injured four others. Jacksonville, Florida, also reported two separate shootings at Halloween parties, leaving two people dead and 11 injured.

## Renewed concerns over gun violence

The incidents added to the continuing toll of gun violence across the country. CNN reported that the Gun Violence Archive had recorded nearly 400 mass shootings in the United States so far in 2026.

The weekend's violence highlighted concerns about safety at crowded public gatherings, particularly during holidays, sporting events and nightlife celebrations. Such incidents can affect communities far beyond the immediate victims, leaving families and residents grappling with loss and uncertainty.

Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer condemned the shootings, emphasizing that gun violence should not be accepted as a normal part of everyday life. “This is not normal. We must never accept gun violence as a part of life in Delaware,” he said.

Investigations into the separate incidents were continuing. Authorities were working to establish motives, identify suspects and determine whether any of the shootings were related.

The preliminary casualty figures illustrate the extent of the violence over a single holiday weekend. The final toll may change as investigations progress and officials confirm the number of victims.
