# Florida Mother Arrested After Allegedly Leaving Four Children Home Alone During Las Vegas Trip
A mother in Central Florida has been charged with four counts of child neglect after authorities alleged that she left her four children unsupervised for several days while traveling to Las Vegas for work.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said deputies received a 911 call shortly after 8:30 p.m. on October 21. A child reported that her 9-year-old brother had been injured when a dumbbell fell on his head.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they found no adults present. The four children, aged 14, 12, 11 and 9, had reportedly been left without overnight supervision.
## Nine-Year-Old Taken to Hospital
Emergency responders arrived at the home and transported the injured boy to Celebration Hospital for treatment. Authorities then contacted the children's mother, identified as Irene Miller.
According to the sheriff's office, Miller told deputies that she was in Las Vegas on a work trip and was scheduled to return to Florida on October 23.
Investigators determined that Miller had left home on October 18. She had reportedly arranged for a babysitter to travel from Tampa each morning to help the children prepare for school and check on them afterward. However, the arrangement did not require the babysitter to remain at the home overnight.

Authorities contacted the children's father, who agreed to take the four children to his residence while detectives coordinated their next steps.
Investigators arranged to meet with Miller on October 23. After she landed in Florida, officers arrested her on four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, according to the sheriff's office. She was subsequently booked into the Orange County Jail.
Body-camera footage released in connection with the case reportedly shows Miller leaving the plane as officers wait to take her into custody.
## Sheriff Warns Against Child Neglect
Osceola County Sheriff Chris Blackmon said the department would investigate cases involving inadequate supervision and pursue charges when warranted.
“The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate child neglect,” Blackmon said, emphasizing that parents who fail to provide proper supervision or care for their children could face criminal charges.
The case centers on allegations that the children were left without an adult staying overnight while their mother was away. The charges are allegations, and the legal process will determine the outcome of the case.
