Praneeta Pujari quits Apple to build AI healthcare platform
# Former Apple Watch Lead Praneeta Pujari Launches AI Healthcare Startup UniqueHuman

Praneeta Pujari, an Indian American technology professional and former Apple Watch lead, has left Apple to launch UniqueHuman, an artificial intelligence-powered healthcare platform designed to help people manage chronic conditions through proactive, personalized care.

Pujari, a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, announced the venture on LinkedIn, explaining that her goal is to build a healthcare system that identifies problems earlier and responds before conditions become prolonged or more difficult to manage.

“I left Apple to build healthcare that listens and acts early. Today, I’m excited to introduce UniqueHuman,” she wrote.

The startup aims to address what Pujari describes as a major limitation of traditional healthcare: the difficulty of providing continuous, individualized attention when care depends heavily on doctors' available time.

## Moving Beyond Health Tracking

UniqueHuman is designed to bring together information from wearable devices, medical records, reported symptoms and other health data to identify patterns associated with chronic illnesses. Rather than simply recording measurements or displaying health trends, the platform intends to use AI to help people understand their conditions and take appropriate next steps.

Pujari said the company is developing proactive healthcare agents that can support people throughout different stages of managing chronic conditions. Its approach focuses on understanding potential underlying causes, identifying what works for individual patients and helping them access care earlier.

“That requires care that watches continuously, acts proactively, and learns from millions of people,” Pujari wrote, describing the company's vision.

## AI Agents for Personalized Care

UniqueHuman intends to use AI agents to connect health monitoring with practical medical support. The goal is to help users move beyond tracking symptoms toward identifying potential flare-ups, connecting with healthcare professionals and managing treatment.

The platform's AI assistant, Niq, is currently focused on migraine and pain-related care. It is intended to help users recognize patterns that may precede symptom flare-ups and support them in seeking appropriate medical attention.

The company's broader ambition is to make healthcare more continuous and personalized, using information collected over time to support decisions tailored to each person's needs.

## Partnerships and Investor Support

Pujari said UniqueHuman is partnering with healthcare institutions across the United States to help its AI agents manage care across different stages. The company says it is building its services on HIPAA-secure infrastructure, reflecting the importance of protecting sensitive health information.

The startup has also attracted support from a group of investors and individual backers. Those named by Pujari include Afore Capital, Correlation Ventures, Inuka Capital and Antler, along with Gaurav Jain, Anamitra Banerji, Wesley Barrow, Raj Sheth, Gautam Shewakramani and Nitin Sharma.

This backing will support the company's effort to develop an AI-based model of healthcare that emphasizes earlier intervention and ongoing assistance for people living with chronic conditions.

## From Apple to Entrepreneurship

Pujari worked at Apple from 2019 to 2025, serving as Apple Watch Lead and contributing to worldwide product planning. Her experience in wearable technology provides relevant background for a venture built around using health data to identify meaningful patterns and support better-informed care.

Before joining Apple, she held product, strategy and merchandising positions at Amazon and Flipkart. She also earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Through UniqueHuman, Pujari is seeking to apply her experience in technology and product development to a healthcare challenge: making personalized support available beyond occasional appointments.

The company's vision is to combine continuous health information, AI-driven insights and connections to medical professionals in a system that can help people recognize potential problems sooner. Its longer-term success will depend on how effectively its technology supports clinical care, protects patient information and delivers meaningful benefits for people managing chronic illnesses.
