Oracle pledges $10 million to keep Nashville Symphony’s 2026-27 season alive
### Oracle Invests $10 Million to Help Nashville Symphony Overcome Financial Crisis

Oracle is providing a $10 million investment to the Nashville Symphony as the nonprofit organization works through a financial crisis and seeks to preserve its upcoming 2026-27 performance season.

The technology company is also entering into a strategic partnership with the Nashville Symphony as the orchestra restructures its finances and works toward a more sustainable long-term operating model.

Oracle’s financial commitment is expected to address the Symphony’s immediate needs and allow it to continue performances at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The support will also enable the organization to bring musicians and employees back as it prepares to resume its full schedule.

The agreement comes after the Nashville Symphony announced plans to furlough its full-time staff and orchestra members beginning October 18 because of its financial difficulties. Oracle’s support will allow those plans to be reversed and the organization to proceed with its 2026-27 season.

“Oracle’s commitment is a lifeline for the Nashville Symphony and the community we serve,” said Mark Tillinger, president and CEO of the Nashville Symphony. He said the partnership would allow the organization to return musicians and performances to the stage while providing momentum toward a more financially stable future.

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell also welcomed the investment, describing Oracle’s involvement as significant support for the city’s arts community.

The mayor said the contribution would ensure that the upcoming Symphony season would not be lost and highlighted the orchestra’s longstanding role in Nashville’s cultural life.

Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk said the company views the Nashville Symphony as an important institution within the community.

“Nashville is a city that understands how music can bring people together,” Magouyrk said, adding that Oracle wants to contribute to the community as it establishes its new headquarters on the city’s East Bank.

The investment also strengthens Oracle’s connection to Nashville as the company continues development of its new headquarters in the city.

Founded in 1946, the Nashville Symphony is a nonprofit organization known for orchestral performances, contemporary American music and programming spanning multiple musical genres.

The orchestra performs at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and has developed an extensive education and community outreach operation across Middle Tennessee.

Through free and affordable programs, the organization reaches nearly 550,000 people in the region each year, extending its activities beyond traditional concert performances.

The Nashville Symphony also has an international audience through recordings, broadcasts and streaming. Its music reaches nearly 13 million listeners worldwide through those platforms.

The organization has earned significant recognition for its recording work, including 14 GRAMMY Awards and 27 nominations throughout its recording history.

The Oracle partnership arrives at a critical point for the Symphony, which is attempting to address its financial challenges while maintaining its artistic operations and connection with audiences.

For Nashville, the agreement also represents a major corporate commitment to the city's cultural sector at a time when nonprofit arts organizations across the country continue to face financial pressures.

The immediate priority will be keeping musicians and staff employed, restoring performances and ensuring that audiences can attend the 2026-27 season as planned.

The longer-term challenge will be putting the Nashville Symphony on a stronger financial footing. Oracle’s investment provides immediate relief, while the strategic partnership is expected to support the organization’s broader effort to create a more sustainable future.
