# Meta’s Muse AI Agent Draws Investor Attention After Strong Early Downloads

Meta Platforms’ new personal artificial intelligence agent, Muse, is attracting growing attention from investors after early download figures indicated stronger initial consumer adoption than ChatGPT recorded during a comparable period following its launch.

Meta shares rose 11.3% on September 21 to close at $741.25, adding roughly $192 billion to the company’s market value. The sharp increase also boosted Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth by more than $13 billion, according to Yahoo Finance.

Meta introduced Muse on September 8 as an AI agent designed to perform tasks on behalf of users rather than simply respond to questions. The system can send emails, book travel, browse websites, complete transactions and continue working on tasks after the user closes the application.

The company says Muse operates through a dedicated secure virtual machine designed to separate the agent’s activities from the user’s primary device environment.

### Muse Gains Early Traction

According to Sensor Tower data cited by Yahoo Finance, Muse recorded 2.8 million downloads during its first 12 days across the United States and Canada.

On a comparable 12-day basis, Muse recorded about 1.8 million downloads, compared with approximately 1.3 million for ChatGPT during its corresponding period, according to the report.

Muse's momentum also continued later in September. The application recorded about 264,000 U.S. downloads on September 19, marking its third consecutive day with more than 200,000 downloads.

The surge helped Muse reach the top position on Apple’s App Store in the United States, further increasing attention around Meta’s push into consumer AI agents.

Reuters reported that Muse is available on both iOS and Android in the United States and Canada. The service includes a free basic version as well as subscription plans priced at $20 and $100 per month for users requiring greater access and usage.

### Why Investors Are Watching Muse

The market reaction surrounding Muse is focused less on its current revenue and more on its potential to become a new source of growth for Meta.

Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney has pointed to several possible monetization opportunities, including advertising, subscriptions and transaction-related revenue.

Muse could also provide Meta with an entry point into enterprise artificial intelligence, a market where companies such as Microsoft have already established significant commercial businesses.

Wall Street analysts are similarly evaluating whether the AI agent can develop into a meaningful revenue-generating product for Meta.

J.P. Morgan has said early adoption provides evidence that Muse could develop into a widely used consumer AI application, while Bank of America researchers have highlighted user interest in its ability to complete multiple tasks with limited intervention.

Unlike conventional chatbots that primarily provide information or generate content, AI agents are increasingly being designed to interact with digital services and perform actions on a user's behalf.

Meta is positioning Muse around that shift, allowing users to delegate activities such as email management, travel planning, shopping and other online tasks.

The company says users maintain control over which applications Muse can access. Users can disconnect connected services and can also choose whether their interactions are used to train Meta’s AI models.

### A Test of Meta’s AI Investment

The early response to Muse comes as Meta continues to commit substantial resources to artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centers and AI development.

The company is betting that AI can generate additional engagement and create new commercial opportunities across its enormous global user base.

For investors, however, the initial download numbers represent only an early indicator. Downloads do not necessarily translate into regular usage, paid subscriptions or transaction revenue.

The longer-term test will be whether users continue relying on Muse for everyday tasks and whether Meta can convert that engagement into a sustainable business.

Muse therefore represents more than another AI chatbot launch. Its performance could provide an early indication of whether consumer AI agents can move from experimental applications to services that become part of users’ daily digital routines.
