JP Morgan names regional tech banking heads to international co-leadership roles
JPMorgan Chase & Co. has appointed two senior technology investment bankers to jointly lead its international technology investment banking business, marking a broader global mandate for the executives.

The bank named Mark Fiteny, head of Asia-Pacific Technology, Media and Telecom (APAC TMT) and New Economy Investment Banking, and Matt Gehl, head of EMEA Technology Investment Banking, as co-heads of the international unit.

The appointments were disclosed in an internal company memo reviewed by Reuters and later confirmed by a JPMorgan spokesperson.

In their new roles, Fiteny and Gehl will work together to strengthen the bank’s relationships with technology clients across international markets.

Both executives bring more than 20 years of industry experience and extensive knowledge of technology-sector transactions to their expanded responsibilities.

Fiteny has played a significant role in JPMorgan’s technology and new-economy banking operations across Asia-Pacific.

Before joining JPMorgan, he worked as an engineer at Procter & Gamble before moving into investment banking and eventually taking on senior leadership positions.

At JPMorgan, his responsibilities have included consumer internet and emerging technology businesses, as well as tracking cross-border commercial opportunities and equity capital market activity.

His experience in Asia is expected to support the bank’s efforts to connect technology companies with investors and strategic opportunities across international markets.

Gehl has led JPMorgan’s EMEA Technology Investment Banking business from London, developing extensive expertise in the region’s rapidly changing technology sector.

His work has focused on technology-sector market developments, capital raising and emerging growth opportunities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Gehl has also represented JPMorgan at major technology industry events, including the bank’s Tech Stars conference in Europe.

Under the new leadership structure, Gehl will remain based in London while Fiteny will continue to operate from Hong Kong.

The appointments come as investment banks compete to capture growing demand for technology-related mergers, acquisitions, fundraising and strategic advisory services.

JPMorgan has also made changes to its regional technology investment banking leadership in Europe as part of the broader restructuring.

Pieter Himpe has been appointed co-head of EMEA Technology Investment Banking, where he will work alongside veteran banker Bill Hutchings.

Himpe previously served as JPMorgan’s head of EMEA Internet and Tech Services within its technology investment banking division.

The revised leadership structure is expected to strengthen coordination between JPMorgan’s regional technology teams and its international client coverage.

The move also reflects the increasing importance of cross-border technology transactions as companies expand into new markets and seek larger pools of capital.

Fiteny’s Asia-Pacific experience and Gehl’s European, Middle Eastern and African coverage are expected to provide complementary expertise to the international business.

Their combined responsibilities will give JPMorgan greater senior-level coverage of technology clients across multiple major financial markets.

The appointments further reinforce the bank’s focus on technology investment banking at a time when artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, software and emerging technologies are driving significant investment activity.

The changes are part of JPMorgan’s broader effort to align its global investment banking operations with evolving client needs and opportunities in high-growth technology sectors.

With Fiteny and Gehl overseeing the international technology business, the bank will seek to deepen relationships with technology companies, investors and financial sponsors worldwide.

The leadership changes position JPMorgan to pursue further growth in international technology deals while maintaining strong regional expertise across Asia-Pacific and EMEA.
