His father, Hari Babu, appealed for assistance in bringing Rahul’s mortal remains back to India as soon as possible. He said the family was being supported by a Telugu community organization in the United States while formal procedures continued. Rahul’s family recalled him as a student who remained closely connected with his parents despite living thousands of miles away. His father said Rahul regularly called home and had spoken with his mother shortly before the accident. According to the family, Rahul had spoken to his mother on the morning of the incident and ended the conversation after telling her that his friends had arrived to pick him up for work. That conversation reportedly became the family’s last communication with him. His father also said Rahul had been hesitant about returning to India because he feared changes in U.S. immigration policies could make it difficult for him to return to the country and continue his studies. Officials from the Telugu Association of North America are reportedly coordinating with authorities in Florida to assist the families with the necessary formalities and arrangements to repatriate the victims’ remains. Community members are also expected to provide support to the grieving families during the difficult process. Preliminary reports suggested that a fourth person was also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and is currently in police custody.
