**Shooting at Lodi McDonald’s Leaves Employee Injured, Suspect Dead**

A shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant in Lodi, California, on Monday morning left an employee injured and a 29-year-old suspect dead following an officer-involved shooting. The incident unfolded at the restaurant located at 200 W. Lodi Ave., near West Lodi Avenue and Church Street. The Lodi Police Department said officers were called to the location at around 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an armed individual inside the restaurant who was allegedly threatening employees. When officers arrived, they heard gunfire and screams coming from within the building. Police entered the restaurant and encountered the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jonhatan Anguiano. An officer-involved shooting occurred shortly afterward, and Anguiano was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said a McDonald’s employee had already been shot before officers arrived. The injured employee was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. No police officers were injured during the incident, and officials said there was no continuing danger to the wider public. The shooting temporarily trapped several customers in the restaurant’s drive-through as police surrounded the area. Cheryl Steneck, who was waiting in the drive-through, told CBS News that she saw an officer get out of a patrol vehicle and draw his weapon behind the car door. She said a restaurant employee then warned her that someone inside had a gun. Steneck described being unable to drive away because another vehicle was stopped in front of her while police cars blocked the area from behind and around her vehicle. She said the situation was frightening, particularly because she was concerned about an employee who remained inside the restaurant. Police eventually began allowing vehicles to leave the drive-through individually after securing the scene. Nearby businesses also reported a significant police presence as officers worked to control the area and investigate what had happened. Authorities have not yet released details about what led to the confrontation or what may have motivated the suspect. The circumstances surrounding the employee’s shooting and the subsequent police shooting remain under investigation. The case is being examined through the San Joaquin County Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol. The investigation involves the Lodi Police Department, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office and the California Department of Justice. Officials are expected to examine evidence, witness accounts and the sequence of events leading up to the officer-involved shooting. Further details about the incident are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
