‘Not for sale’: Cognition CEO denies SpaceX acquisition talks
Cognition CEO **Scott Wu** has rejected a report that SpaceX approached the AI coding startup about a possible acquisition, saying the company has no plans to sell. “This is not true,” Wu said on X, adding that Cognition is “not for sale” and that the two companies had not been in acquisition discussions. His comments came as SpaceX continues to expand its presence in artificial intelligence following its recently completed **$60 billion acquisition of Cursor**, another major AI coding company.

SpaceX has also strengthened its AI ambitions through its acquisition of xAI, with Elon Musk telling employees that he expects artificial intelligence to account for most of the company’s value in the coming years. Cognition could have further strengthened SpaceX’s position in AI-powered software development through its flagship coding agent **Devin**, which is used by enterprise customers including Mercedes-Benz, Citi and Goldman Sachs. While reported acquisition discussions are no longer active, the companies could potentially explore a commercial partnership, including Cognition using SpaceX’s computing infrastructure. Cognition remains one of the largest independent AI coding startups and raised **$1 billion at a $25 billion valuation** in May.

The company is also reportedly considering another funding round that could push its valuation toward **$40 billion**. For now, Wu’s public denial makes Cognition’s position clear: the startup intends to remain independent, even as competition for leading AI coding companies intensifies.
