Aditya Agarwal announces SPC’s $575M fund to help founders
South Park Commons co-founder Aditya Agarwal has announced the launch of SPC Fund IV, a $575 million venture fund aimed at helping highly talented technologists turn early ideas into ambitious companies. The new fund brings South Park Commons’ total assets under management to approximately $2 billion and expands the firm’s ability to support founders beyond the earliest stages of company creation. Agarwal said the organization now has a community of around 1,200 technologists, reflecting a decade of work focused on helping entrepreneurs navigate the uncertain period between having an idea and building a viable product.

Since its founding in 2016, South Park Commons has developed a reputation for working with founders at what Agarwal describes as the “-1 to 0” stage, before a company has fully taken shape. The organization’s previous funds have produced several high-performing investments, while companies including Baseten, Gamma, Render, Goodfire, Luma and Profound began their journeys within the SPC community. Fund IV represents an expansion of that original strategy, allowing the firm to continue supporting companies well beyond their initial launch. Agarwal said the close relationship established with founders during the earliest and most uncertain stages often enables SPC to remain an active investor after companies leave its initial ecosystem. The new fund is intended to provide capital that matches that longer-term commitment. According to Agarwal, the timing reflects a major shift in the technology landscape, where artificial intelligence is increasing the availability of intelligence while reducing the cost of experimenting with new ideas.

Technologies that once appeared too difficult or expensive to pursue are becoming increasingly accessible to entrepreneurs and researchers. SPC expects this shift to create opportunities across a broad range of industries, including robotics, manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, energy, biotechnology and semiconductor technology. Agarwal highlighted a future in which machines could perform increasingly complex physical work in factories, farms and hospitals, while advances in energy and biology could open entirely new areas of innovation. The fund will also focus on the infrastructure supporting scientific progress, including chips, instruments and specialized technological tools. Agarwal emphasized that SPC’s central philosophy remains focused on finding highly curious and capable builders and helping them determine which problems are worth pursuing.

Rather than simply investing in companies after they have established products or markets, the organization seeks to work with entrepreneurs while their ideas are still being developed. Agarwal believes that helping exceptional founders choose the right problems can ultimately produce strong venture returns as a secondary outcome. Before co-founding South Park Commons, Agarwal was one of Facebook’s earliest engineers, joining the company in 2005 and helping develop its initial search engine. He later became Facebook’s first director of product engineering before co-founding Cove, a collaboration software company that was eventually acquired by Dropbox. At Dropbox, Agarwal later served as chief technology officer and oversaw the expansion of the engineering organization from roughly 25 employees to more than 1,000. With SPC Fund IV, Agarwal and his partners are seeking to apply that technical and entrepreneurial experience to a new generation of builders.

The $575 million fund signals growing investor confidence in technologies that combine artificial intelligence with physical systems, biology, energy and advanced computing. As the cost of experimentation continues to decline, SPC is betting that the next wave of transformative companies will emerge from technologists willing to tackle problems that once seemed impossible.
