Cybersecurity GCCs nearly double in India as global threats intensify

India is rapidly strengthening its position as a global cybersecurity hub, with the number of cybersecurity companies operating Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in the country nearly doubling over the past six years. According to ANSR, cybersecurity GCCs have grown from around 30 to 59, reflecting increasing confidence among multinational companies in India's engineering talent, research capabilities, and innovation ecosystem. The expansion comes as organizations worldwide invest heavily in cybersecurity to combat rising cyber threats, accelerated digital transformation, hybrid work environments, and the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence.

The report highlights that 49 of the 59 cybersecurity GCCs in India belong to U.S.-based companies, accounting for nearly 83% of the sector. Leading firms such as Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Fortinet, Zscaler, Sophos, Arctic Wolf, Rapid7, Sonatype, Deepwatch, and N-able have established or expanded operations across India. These centers are no longer limited to customer support or back-office services but now play a critical role in product engineering, cybersecurity research, threat intelligence, cloud security, software development, and enterprise protection. The trend demonstrates how India has evolved into a strategic innovation center supporting the global cybersecurity operations of major technology companies.

The rapid growth also reflects the changing nature of cyber threats. As artificial intelligence enhances business productivity, it is simultaneously enabling cybercriminals to launch more sophisticated attacks, making advanced cybersecurity expertise more essential than ever. India's expanding talent pool, strong technology infrastructure, and mature GCC ecosystem have made it an attractive destination for global firms seeking specialized security capabilities.

According to the latest Nasscom-Zinnov report, India now hosts 2,117 GCCs, employing over 2.36 million professionals and generating nearly $98.4 billion in annual revenue. With demand for cybersecurity professionals expected to continue rising, the country is well positioned to play an even larger role in protecting digital infrastructure and driving innovation for global enterprises.
