Meta launches new ‘Seller’ app to provide sales tools for merchants
Jul 27, 2026
📍 Philadelphia, PA, USA
Meta has introduced a new standalone app called Seller, designed to simplify and enhance the selling experience for merchants using Facebook Marketplace. Available on the U.S. App Store for users aged 18 and older, the app brings together AI-powered listing creation, inventory management, a unified inbox, and real-time performance insights in one dedicated platform. Existing Marketplace listings, messages, and selling history automatically sync with the app, allowing sellers to manage their business without disrupting their current workflow. Meta AI can generate product titles, descriptions, pricing suggestions, and categories from uploaded photos, while a bulk listing feature enables sellers to post multiple items more efficiently. The app also highlights important tasks such as responding to buyers, shipping orders, and repricing listings through a personalized dashboard. As Facebook Marketplace celebrates its 10th anniversary with over one billion monthly active users, Meta is positioning Seller as a powerful tool for professional merchants looking to scale their businesses. The company says the app will continue evolving based on feedback from its seller community. Alongside Seller, Meta also launched an AI-powered Verified identity program, further expanding its commerce ecosystem. Investors viewed the move as increased competition for established online marketplaces, with eBay shares falling after the announcement amid concerns that professional sellers could migrate to Meta’s growing platform.
