IBM launches AI agents for its Power servers following worst stock day

IBM has introduced **Power Autonomous Operations**, a new artificial intelligence-powered management system designed to automate the monitoring and maintenance of IBM Power servers. The AI agent is intended to identify potential issues, resolve routine operational problems automatically and help organizations improve system reliability while reducing the need for manual infrastructure management.

Alongside the new AI capabilities, IBM announced several software enhancements aimed at simplifying the deployment and management of enterprise AI infrastructure. The company also expanded its hardware portfolio with the launch of the **Power11 S1112**, a single-socket server built to support IBM i, AIX and Linux environments. According to IBM, the latest updates are part of a broader strategy to help businesses modernize their IT operations and prepare their infrastructure for increasingly demanding AI workloads.

The product announcements come during a challenging period for IBM after the company experienced its sharpest single-day stock decline in decades. Company executives attributed the slowdown in quarterly performance to customers accelerating purchases of servers, storage and memory ahead of anticipated price increases, causing spending patterns to shift unexpectedly. IBM also reported that evolving cybersecurity concerns across the technology sector delayed several major customer agreements that had been expected to close during the quarter.

Chief Executive Officer Arvind Krishna said organizations temporarily redirected technology budgets toward essential infrastructure while reassessing cybersecurity risks associated with rapidly evolving artificial intelligence developments. In response, IBM accelerated the release of **Lightwell**, its open-source security software, to help customers strengthen cyber defenses and address emerging AI-related security challenges more quickly.

Despite softer-than-expected quarterly revenue growth and earnings, IBM continues to position artificial intelligence, automation and enterprise infrastructure as the foundation of its long-term strategy. By combining autonomous operations, AI-ready hardware and enhanced software management tools, the company aims to help enterprises build more resilient, efficient and intelligent technology environments capable of supporting the next generation of AI-powered applications.
