Allen's sister, **Jody Allen**, has managed the team as trustee, and the proceeds from the sale will support **Allen Family Philanthropies**, continuing the late owner's charitable legacy.
The new ownership group will be led by **Neeru Khosla**, educator, entrepreneur, and co-founder of CK-12 Foundation, who will serve as the controlling owner. She will be joined by Vinod Khosla, founder of **Khosla Ventures** and co-founder of **Sun Microsystems**, along with their son **Neal Khosla**, CEO of AI healthcare company Curai.

As part of the agreement, the Khosla family will sell its **3.1% minority stake in the San Francisco 49ers**, complying with NFL rules that prohibit controlling ownership of more than one franchise. League owners are expected to vote on the proposed sale during a special meeting in late August.
The acquisition marks another significant milestone for Indian Americans in global sports ownership. A graduate of **IIT Delhi**, Vinod Khosla built his fortune through technology and venture capital, backing some of Silicon Valley's most successful companies, including **OpenAI, DoorDash, and Instacart**.
Founded in 1976, the Seattle Seahawks compete in the **NFC West** and play their home games at **Lumen Field**. The franchise has won two Super Bowl championships and enters the 2026 season as the defending NFL champion under head coach **Mike Macdonald**.
